I made the dough ultimate night time and examined a few cookies earlier than letting the dough take a seat. They were very good. I am making the remainder lately. I completely hacked the recipe but it's a nice base to paintings from. I did not have bourban, so I used apricot preserves and added slightly more milk as a substitute, also a tsp of rum flavoring. I simplest had one pound of raisins, so I threw in a handful of dried cranberries. I didn't have dried pineapple in any respect, so I added dates as an alternative. The cranberries have been *adequate* but would probably no longer use them next time. They had reasonably a tart bite. I'm happy I didn't use so much. The handiest factor flawed with the recipe is I believe the "drop by tsp" is a typo. There is no method it's worthwhile to drop this chunky dough by means of the teaspoon. I'm the usage of a big cookie dough scoop. I'm giving it a Five stars because if this was smooth to mess up, I indubitably would have done it. Even with all the adjustments, this got here out very good. Thanks a bunch. An excellent vacation addition to my cookie trays.Thumb Up

Wonderful!! Huge kudos from the group of workers at my place of job. This recipe made so many cookies, that now not simplest did I feed the place of work, but I also gave away platters to a number of neighbors and still had lots for us. The style is solely implausible (and I in reality do not maintain fruitcake). I'll be making these 12 months after yr after 12 months after..... (thanks!)Thumb Up

I just came again to read my posted evaluate and noticed Olga's slightly below. Yes, it is true that if you 'drop via teaspoons' you will get mini cookies. I dropped them by heaped Tablespoons after which shaped them into shape because some cookies within the first batch fell aside. I handiest made part the recipe and were given over Ninety cookies however the amount you get is dependent upon how a lot dough you portion for one cookie. I thought they did look pretty - like selfmade cookies and the cookies are chock full of end result & nuts, it could most effective remind you of fruitcake. Besides, this can be a cookie and not a cake. I still am not sure how they are meant to style however I'm proud of the consequences.Thumb Up

These are delicious, and the one cookie I made this 12 months that can NEED to reappear on my cookie tray every vacation season. I do like fruitcake, so maybe I'm biased, but the candy nutty candied-cherry-and-pineapple dessert makes the holidays and this cookie is even higher than the cake. The nuts have that tremendous toasted taste after baking on the sheet, and the cookie measurement (I did go to about 1.5/2 TBSP dough) is solely nice for individual portion control. It is also nice for folks wary of fruitcake: they suspect, "Oh I'll take one it's just a couple bites" and before they are aware of it any person new is hooked. I made the dough exactly as written (neatly no golden all standard raisins) and notice no want to exchange it. A cup of whiskey gave the impression of so much and the raw dough smelled strongly of it: no problems after baking on the other hand, only a deeper flavor to the cookie that we discover indistinguishable as whiskey. I was additionally tempted to skip the step of chilling the dough overnight in the refrigerator, however it will probably simplest assist the flavors and the chilliness is essential to assist the chunky dough stay in combination. Making the recipe as written I did NOT have problems with crumbling, I did however ensure every drop cookie was once nice and compact within the scoop, the use of my fingers as neccessary to pack the dough. Pretty on the plate and oh-so-easy: don't be frightened of this one! Thanks for sharing :)Thumb Up

I made the dough for this recipe three nights in the past and baked up a tribulation batch 2 nights ago. Because of the more than a few feedback that the cookies didn't grasp together I chopped up many of the culmination which made them so much stickier. I chopped them to various levels and left most of the raisins whole for extra attention-grabbing texture. I also chopped the nuts. Finally, I packed the dough together tightly sooner than refrigerating. In the top the cookies held together fairly effectively. (I let them cool just a little earlier than taking them off my baking sheet - that may have helped too...) I attempted quite a lot of sizes and styles for the cookie. It bakes up just about precisely as you place it on the baking sheet, so the prettier the form you put down the prettier the cookie will be. My favorite was an ordinary 1.5" diameter cookie dough scoop. It was smooth and quick to scoop, stored the dough packed in combination automatically, and made nice rounded ball-shaped cookies. Finally, I used some same old mixed candied fruit rather than one of the vital cherries and pineapple only for convenience, and that labored positive. I believe the cookies are superb, can not forestall eating them, and will most probably lead them to each Christmas now. But at my holiday party no person ranted and raved about them, so I'm giving them Four stars instead of five. Of path, this was now not a fruitcake-loving crowd...Thumb Up

This recipe is straightforward to prepare and easy to customize. I don't like bourbon so I used water with numerous vanilla extract. I additionally didn't have enough raisins or the pineapple and simply used additional fruitcake combine to make up most of the distinction. This made WAY more than 4-6 dozen when dropped by way of teaspoons, nevertheless it was once a pleasing dimension cookie. I wouldn't cause them to any bigger. Now I just have lots to percentage. I do not like fruitcake AT ALL, however would if truth be told consume these. My husband LOVED them. I hope they last until Xmas!Thumb Up

I did not care for this recipe in any respect. The cookies total had an excessively plain taste, and I did not like the feel of the dough, both. The dough was method too gentle and ethereal to resemble fruitcake very a lot, and like I stated, they tasted very plain to me. After purchasing all of the expensive components, I was moderately disillusioned. Maybe they may well be higher if the cinnamon and nutmeg had been almost doubled, and most likely add some allspice too. Also, possibly for those who poured some boiling water over the raisins first to plump them up, after which soaked them for a couple of hours in some bourbon to taste them up, it would lend a hand. Maybe add some chopped dates and/or prunes too. But as is, I would not make those once more. Sorry.Thumb Up
